Laut der modelingtheweb.com Studie 'Winners don't take all: Characterizing the competition for links on the web' trifft dies jedoch nicht auf alle Themenbereiche gleichermassen zu. Der Social Network Explorer (hier am Beispiel scripting.com) zeigt Naheverhältnisse einzelner Blogs auf: wer linkt zur Site, wohin verweist diese, wo gibt es Links in beide Richtungen. Gleichzeitig werden Blogs mit ähnlichem Inhalt empfohlen. Cameron (der Mensch hinter blogdex) sagt dazu: "My hope is really that blogdex will eventually turn into a routing tool, connecting people with the weblogs that they are interested in.
